Overview

This course explores some of the ethical challenges facing online mediation. Online mediation is an emerging method for conducting mediations. Unlike traditionally mediations were conducted face-to-face with all the parties convening in the same physical location, online mediation uses live real-time video technology to conduct the meeting. Modernly, people are becoming more accustomed to communicating using real-time video, and mediation participants are demanding alternative meeting methods. The popularity of Zoom, Skype, and Webex is testament to the fact that real-time video communication is here to stay. Conducting mediations online allows the mediator to; expand mediation services beyond their local community, serve a wider audience of people, overcome cultural barriers, increase public awareness of mediation, and include the millennial and younger members of our population. So join us in the journey and discover a whole new way of resolving disputes.
