Understanding Cultural Competency

Overview

This course explores the use of cultural competency in the dispute resolution arena. Here cultural competency refers to the communication between people who may have differences in any one of the following: styles of working, age, nationality, ethnicity, race, gender, and sexual orientation. In this course we examine how mediators may leverage their understanding of people belonging to different cultures (or communities) to help resolve issues and create better outcomes.
